Just as the sun was about to set in the northeastern part of South America, a common squirrel monkey made a quick peek to see who was passing by its habitat. I’m a noob at spotting the various species of wildlife and plants, but my interest to learn more about them has grown lately. A friend of mine said it was a capuchin monkey when I showed him these photos, so when I minted the first photo I used several tags including ‘capuchin’. Michal Sloviak, a qualified zoologist specialized in mammalogy, quickly identified the animal as a common squirrel monkey when I posted my observation at iNaturalist.
